All of the results and most of the winning images are on the website. I agree with Gordon that that standard has definitely improved from his last visit. If you compare the images in the current image gallery to those in last year’s gallery I am sure you will see the difference. The new system for calculating the photographer of the year has made the battle for the top spot much tighter. I have calculated the leader board using the old system if anybody is interested in the comparison. I would be interested in your comments.

Next week’s meeting has two parts. I will be taking the first half and will be talking about basic camera skills. This is the second part to my previous talk on composition and will cover the technical side of using the camera and hardware. I will cover some aspects that Terry Hewitt covered a few weeks ago. The presentation is very similar to the one I gave last season.

During the second half Geoff will be sharing the way he approaches photography.  He will cover a wide range of subjects from camera settings to where to get images printed. It is very informative (I’ve seen his powerpoint !!). I will be available during this time to offer any help and advice to anyone who wants it. If you have any questions no matter how basic or silly you think they are this is the chance to ask. Alternatively, if you want any comments on images I will have my laptop. Bring your camera if you have any questions about settings. We can work as a group or individually.

The powerpoints will be available to copy if you want them (bring a memory stick).

Hopefully this should be a useful evening with something for everyone of all ability.
